AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated AWS region operated by cleared U.S. persons and built to meet federal security and compliance regimes (FedRAMP High, DoD, ITAR, CJIS) for sensitive government data. It is the backbone that hosts many federal, state, and law-enforcement systems and the third-party surveillance tools that run on top of Amazon's cloud.
