Venntel, a subsidiary of Gravy Analytics, aggregates smartphone location data harvested from ordinary apps' advertising IDs and sells the resulting movement histories to government — DHS, ICE, CBP, the FBI, and the IRS — as a way to track people without a warrant. The FTC moved against the practice in 2024.
